I gave her a tight hug and kissed her a final time. Penny and I got married and finished college, and Tom moved in with one of the nine girlfriends he found since we lost Dad and my stepmother. When they returned to the kitchen Melissa asked me, “So Penny says you two are a gay couple?”
“We’re bi, we like girls too. Like one guy being both of your boyfriends?”
“NO! Ben and I had our partners switched, and Melissa and Penny had to swap hotel rooms, so Penny’s uncle could be sure she behaved. I missed you.” Until I saw her butt when she got out of the car, I hadn’t. She bounced in my lap, splashing soapy water all over. “It’s great to see you too, Katie. I’m glad you’re home!” She ran to me and gave me a hug. Most children would have objected, but I enjoyed the comfort and reassurance. Somebody put a finger in my ass. He laughed some more, as we grimaced in disgust.
