The night of the party, or more correctly the ball, soon arrived. The music was loud and lively. As the music pulsed, the two dancers moved their hips to the rhythm. Because of their position on the floor, Ron and Jill were among the first to take their place in the center. One of the things we did together as a couple was to take ballroom dance lessons. In the near darkness I thought I could detect a faint smile. Yet, my mind seemed to be elsewhere. I managed to slip a word in edgewise on occasion, but for the most part left the conversation initially to the two pros. Sounded good to me.
