“Everything okay?”
“Everything is fine, Mrs. I usually visited here early in the morning before work when the customers were more sparse. There are worse places to fly solo.”
I snorted, “That’s true. “Man,” Dillon finally said, “that sucks. Jess relied on me for most of the financial burden of long-distance dating. Jessica looked back at me, mouth parted as she drank in oxygen between moans. I started down the hallway toward the elevator when a head poked out of the apartment across from mine, almost crashing into me. “I can’t be here,” I said. I’d known her for three years, and we got along well. She looked alarmed that I’d thrown on my clothes so quickly, and for some reason, her confusion was stoking my anger even more. I told her to leave and lock the door on the way out.
